Brooke opened the door to the bungalow and led Deacon inside. He was amazed at how beautiful it was. The floor was made of Italian marble and the living room was more spacious than the beach house that he and Bridget had lived in. All the furniture was made with the finest woods and materials. The color scheme was not your typical Caribbean one but one of elegance. He squeezed her hand and smiled. "Now this is a place to spend a honeymoon."
"Honeymoon. Oh God Deacon, I cant believe were married." Brooke told him.
"Youre happy arent you?" He asked in a worried tone.
"Yes, but scared and shocked and confused but yes happy." He pulled her close and kissed her.
"This place is awesome." He let go of her hand and walked around, inspecting every inch of the place. He came out of the bathroom and walked up to his bride. "Did you know that theres a whirlpool in there?"
"Theres a Jacuzzi hot tub out on the deck too." She giggled. "And if youd like to go out there our dinner has been delivered and its on the table waiting for us. Complete with two bottles of champagne."
"Two? I dont want to be drunk. I fully intend to relish every second of this night."
"So do I Deacon, it feels like Ive waited all my life for this. But the strangest thing is that Im hungry. Its like I woke up from a long, long sleep and I want to indulge in everything." She looked into his eyes and then her own eyes traveled up and down his body. "Everything." She repeated.
"I am kinda hungry." He said. "I havent been able to eat much for worrying lately. I think Ill make up for it tonight. But we may have to call room service back."
"Why?" She asked him.
"Cause we are going to be working up an appetite all night long Mrs. Sharpe."
"Mrs. Sharpe, oh Deacon, I still cant believe it."
"Im sure youll want to stick with Logan at Forrester, my name pretty much means shit there, but if you dont mind too much Ill think of you as Brooke Sharpe."
"So will I Deacon."
Deacon took her hand again and walked her outside to the patio deck. There were fountains and flowers and soft candlelight. "Wow." He said. "It reminds me of Vegas."
"Yes." She said. "You know I didnt notice it before. Maybe I just didnt want to."
"You missed me as much as I missed you didnt you baby?" He said with a smile.
"I think I missed you more." Brooke admitted. "Im so glad you came after me Deacon."
"Then we both feel the same way baby." He put his arm around her waist and looked out at the Caribbean. "Its so beautiful here, I cant think of a more perfect place."
Brooke looked up at him and kissed him. "Deacon." She whispered. "Oh Deacon how can I love you so much? I didnt even know it was possible to be so in love. I thought that what I felt for Ridge was real but I didnt know real love until you."
"You taught me what the word means Brooke." He smiled and kissed her. "Now I have a really great idea."
"Whats that?" She asked.
"Lets eat this wonderful dinner and then lets get this honeymoon started."
"Oh yes." She said. "I want you to truly make me your wife Deacon."
Taylor walked into the living room and handed her husband a glass of wine.
"Thank you my love." He said.
She looked down at the sketch he was working on. "Its lovely. Ridge its even better than it was before."
"Dont tell me youre agreeing with that idiot Caicedo."
"No, but maybe he had a point. Your changes, Ridge this is so perfect."
"Humph." He said. He put the pad down and took a large gulp from his glass. "I will never admit to him being right about anything."
"Its not that he was right, its that you have created a masterpiece. Ridge he didnt tell you what to do to it, just that something was missing. You discovered that yourself. Im so proud of you."
"Proud? Proud that your husband has been reduced to nothing but a puppet?" He picked up the pad and looked at it. To Taylors complete shock he tore the page off and crumbled it into a ball. "The hell with him and the hell with Brooke too."
"Where are you going?" Vincent asked Bridget. They had been sleeping soundly in each others arms but she had abruptly gotten up and out of the bed.
"Nowhere." She said softly. She walked to the window and stared out into the moonlight. Vincent got up and walked to her. He stood behind her and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Bridget, youre crying."
"Im sorry." She said. She turned around and tried her hardest to smile at him.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked.
"No." She said.
"Then what is it? Is it Deacon?"
"I dont know. I just had a strange feeling. I woke up and I felt so sad and sick to my stomach and I just cant explain it. It felt like something happened and that I had no way to stop it."
"Did you have a nightmare?" He asked. He didnt understand and he wanted so badly to be able to help her.
"No, just a premonition or a feeling. I dont know Vincent. I just woke up and it was like I suddenly knew something had happened, something terrible."
"Does this happen to you often?" He asked. "Do you have feelings like this a lot?"
Bridget had to smile at that. She let him take her into his arms and stroke her back. She sighed and looked up at him. "I dont think so. I just had this intense feeling of hurt."
"Amber Im going to get a Coke, do you want one?" Rick asked his wife.
"I dont think we have any caffeine free left sweetie." Amber said to him as she looked up from her magazine.
"Why didnt you tell me? I would have gone out and gotten you some. I will now if you want." He volunteered.
"Actually I think Id rather have some iced tea. I made some before. Can you bring me a glass and some oatmeal cookies?" She smiled.
"Sure honey." He grinned at her and left the room.
Amber turned the page and was surprised to see a picture of Brooke and Ridge in Las Vegas. It was an article about the upcoming showing. Her smile turned to a frown when she saw the expression on Brookes face. This was not the familiar look of sadness that Brooke had been sporting lately. She looked radiant, fresh and very happy. "Is she that good at fooling the reporters?" She asked aloud. She looked closer at the shot. Ridge had his arm around Brooke and the man on the other side of her was looking at her like she was a piece of cake and he had been on Weight Watchers for a year. "Is this guy someone Brooke?" She wondered. "Who are you Mister and what do you mean to Brooke?" She turned the page and finally found his name. "Josh Harmon. Does Brooke have something going with you? I wonder what Rick knows."
"You wonder what I know about what?" Rick asked as he handed her the iced tea and a plate of cookies.
"This guy. His name is Josh Harmon. Look at how hes looking at your mother."
"What guy doesnt look at her that way." Rick laughed. "Even Ridge seems pretty happy to have his arm around her and you know he and Taylor are solid. Mom is beautiful Amber, men like beautiful women."
"I just cant imagine her going off to the islands all alone Rick. But then?" She started. "No, that doesnt make sense either."
"I wish youd stop obsessing over my mother and her love life or lack of one Amber." Rick said with a frown.
"I worry about her sweetie." She told him. She took a bite of a cookie. "Um, good."
"No need to worry Amber, my Mom always lands on her feet. I know she took the thing with Ridge hard but you watch, when she comes back shes going to be a totally different woman."
"I could get spoiled eating like this." Deacon told Brooke as he pushed his plate away. "And I cant believe you have a butler too."
"We have a butler." She corrected him with a giggle.
"We, we are a we now Brooke, well forever be a we." He reached for her hand and gently stroked it. "I still cant believe you said yes. I still cant believe that youre mine."
"I love you Deacon." She told him. "I love you so much that I cant even seem to find the right words."
"When I woke up this morning I was sad and depressed and so lonely. I never for a minute guessed that the day could end like this. Youre my wife Brooke, my wife." A huge grin came over his face and he couldnt seem to stop smiling.
"Your wife." She sighed. "Deacon Ive been a wife before, Ive been a wife so many times before but it never felt this way. I never was so nervous and shy and yet so happy. I feel like a kid again."
"Believe me Brooke, you are all woman and I am going to show you just how much of a woman you are too."
"Ill bet you are." She laughed and shivered. Suddenly she grinned and stood up.
"Where do you think youre going Mrs. Sharpe?" He asked.
"Ill be right back Mr. Sharpe." She said. She leaned over and kissed him softly on the lips. "Pour me another glass of champagne okay?"
"You got it." He said. He watched her walk into the villa and took a deep breath. "I love you so much Brooke." He said, although she was no longer within hearing distance. "I may not have their money or their fame but Im more of a man than any of those Forrester wimps you married. I swear I will make you happier than any of those fools ever did and I swear I will never let you go either."
"Please dont be upset with me Doc." Ridge said as he walked into the bedroom. Taylor was on the bed reading a Psychology journal. Her glasses rested low on her nose and she looked up over them at him but didnt say a word. "Come on Taylor, I was mad. But this had nothing to do with us."
"I didnt say it did Ridge." She finally replied. "But you behaved childishly. It was as if I had two sons as well as two daughters and I didnt like it one bit."
"You have to see my point. Caicedo has no right to tell me what to do and what to design. The man knows nothing about fashion! Nothing!"
"Obviously your father doesnt agree. He hired him Ridge, and he supported Brooke appointing him to that position at International."
"And she puts him in charge here without even meeting him too. Im starting to wonder about her Doc. Maybe there is something wrong with her." He sat down on the bed next to her and picked up a magazine she had next to her.
"Thats not very nice Ridge. I think shes trying."
"So youre her champion now?" He wondered.
"Not really, but Ive gotten past what she did to us."
"Tried to do to us." He corrected her.
"Yes, tried to do to us. But I think its unfair to label her that way because you dont agree with or approve of her business decisions. Its not like you have always agreed with her anyway." She took her glasses off, folded them closed and put them on the nightstand.
"No, but in the past she talked to me Doc, she trusted my opinions, she listened to me."
"Things have changed Ridge, you cant have it both ways. Shes finally faced facts about your relationship. She knows that it will never be more than friendship. Maybe in the past her coming to you was really an attempt to prove to you how you needed each other. Anyway I said it before and Ill say it again, this is temporary. Brooke went away to get her head together and shell come back refreshed and happier and Carlos will be gone and youll be happy again. Put up with it Ridge, its not going to last long."
"Oh my God." Deacon gasped as Brooke came back out to him. "It should be illegal to look so good."
Brooke smiled sweetly at him and let the robe of her peignoir open slightly. It was pure white, which showed off her deep tan. The nightie underneath was the same white with a sweetheart neckline. Lace covered her breasts. It fell to a very short mid thigh with a lace trim. It was wispy and summery and very sheer. Deacons body was reacting to what his eyes had taken in.
"So you like it then?" She asked. "Was it worth keeping you waiting a few minutes for the ceremony? Thats what kept me, I did a little shopping. I wanted a trousseau. I hope it was worth the delay."
"Baby its worth waiting forever for." He got up and walked to her. He pulled her tightly into his arms and kissed her. She felt his erection straining against his pants and she wanted him more than she ever had before. "Shall we go inside?" He suggested when he was able to tear his mouth from hers.
"Inside? Lets not start to get boring now Deacon." She smiled. She let the robe drop to the floor as she walked away from him.
"Boring? Baby nothing we can ever do will be boring." He told her. "God you are beautiful. But Brooke, I really think its time we got this honeymoon started."
"Oh so do I Deacon." She laughed. She picked up her glass of champagne and took a sip. "Mmmm, so good. Isnt it good honey?"
"We can take the other bottle into the bedroom." He said anxiously.
"Or we can leave it here." She said. She gulped the rest down, refilled her glass and walked towards the hot tub. Brooke turned and looked at Deacon as she hit the switch turning it on. "Bubbles in the tub, bubbles in the champagne. I like bubbles."
"Shall we go put our bathing suits on?" Deacon asked.
"Then how will you make love to me?" She asked. She reached up and pulled the nightgown over her head, threw it to the ground and slowly stepped into the tub. "Are you coming?" She asked.
"Shit yeah." He laughed. He followed her over and shed his clothes faster than he had ever done in his life. Brooke was laughing heartily as he got into the tub and pulled her onto his lap. She cuddled up to him and started kissing his neck and his chest while his hands explored her body.
"Oh Deacon its been too long, way too long. Please just f*ck me now, we can take our time later, I need you inside me now or Ill die, I swear I will."
"Too bad youre so shy Brooke." He laughed. "I love it when you talk dirty." He said as he shifted her in his lap and pushed himself inside her.
"Yes, oh God yes." She moaned.
"Shhhh, people will hear us." He laughed.
"Screw them, its our honeymoon." She said as she pulled him deeper inside her.
"Here you go." Vincent said handing Bridget a cup of tea.
"Thanks." She said. She blew on it and took a tiny sip. "Its good."
"Are you feeling better?" He asked.
"Vincent please dont take this personally. Its not about us, its not about Deacon, I honestly dont know what its about. It was just a feeling, a strange scary feeling."
"Has it passed?" He asked hopefully.
"No." She shook her head and took another sip.
"Are you sure it doesnt have something to do with Deacon? I will understand. I know you loved him. Bridget please just dont shut me out." He begged her.
"Im not. Really Im not. I was shocked to see him and it bothered me, but I think it bothered me more that he thought he could sneak back into town and not tell me. Not that I wanted to see him, but it would be embarrassing to me to have the whole town know he was here and not me. Oh Vincent, I dont know, I dont care about him, I wish he had just stayed away. But this isnt about him. Its not."
"I wont ask again then honey." Vincent walked up to her and put his arms around her. "I just wish there was some way I could make it better for you."
"You just did." She told him. "I love you Vincent."
"I love you too Bridget."
Eric looked over at his wife. She was reading a novel but she had a deep frown on her face. He was concerned about her. Her blood pressure had been high again at her last doctors appointment and it looked to him like it was climbing now.
"Book not very good?" He asked.
"Hmm?" She asked him distractedly.
"I asked if you were enjoying your novel." He repeated.
"Oh this?" She asked looking at the book and putting it down. "To be honest I cant seem to get into it."
"Something is on your mind." He said rather than asked.
"As it should be on yours too." She looked up at him. "How long are you going to let this man control our company? Its one thing to have Brooke Logan breathing down our necks but Carlos Caicedo? Eric this is wrong. Your son is beside himself and frankly so am I."
"I have no control of this Stephanie. Brooke is on a vacation and she left him in control. She is CEO whether we like it or not and her decisions stand."
"Until we fight them. Eric cant we call Jonathan? Cant we try and use this to prove she is not acting in the best interests for this company and see if we can overtake her?"
"On what grounds Stephanie? The woman rarely takes a vacation."
"Unless shes marrying one of our sons." She answered sarcastically.
"Thats funny." He said. "Ridge told me Taylor said something similar to him today. But sweetheart, Carlos is a smart businessman. I hired him myself."
"Not to run Forrester Eric."
"No." He agreed. "Not to run Forrester. But Brooke will be back soon."
"Hes insinuating himself into the company and the family. Hes taken Rick under his wing." She complained.
"And that is a good thing Stephanie. Someday he will be running the business end of things, that is what he is training for."
"Over my dead body." She said vehemently. "This company was built for our family Eric, our family! Not Brooke Logans family!"
"Rick is my son Stephanie and he is our family."
"He can work here Eric, but if anyone ends up running this company it should be Ridge and you know that." She told him.
"Well my dear, its a moot point because Brooke is young, healthy with no plans of going anywhere so what do you say we change the subject and have a pleasant evening together?"
"Things would be a lot more pleasant all over if Brooke Logan and all her extensions were out of our lives." Stephanie said, once more getting in the last word.
"Deacon, oh Deacon." Brooke moaned as his mouth covered her breast. They had made love twice since entering the Jacuzzi and now Deacon was taking his time pleasuring himself and his bride. She swung her head from side to side as he suckled at her breasts teasing one and then the other. Her nipples were rock hard and ached from his touch, each one wanting the attention that the other was getting. Brooke moaned when his hand slid between her legs and slowly stroked her very sensitive nub. "Deacon, oh God." She shouted.
"I know you like that baby." He purred as his mouth left her breasts. He claimed her mouth and his tongue invaded her mouth as his fingers invaded her nether regions. Brooke was losing control of her senses, he was taking her body on a roller coaster ride of the most sensual kind and she wanted more, so much more.
"Ohhhhh." She moaned as she started to go over the edge.
"Go with it baby, come for me." He said.
Brooke looked into his eyes with her own glassy eyes. "I cant take it, too much, oh God its too much."
"Yes you can baby, yes." He moaned. "Thats it Brooke, thats it." He said as he felt her tighten and convulse on his exploring hand. She gasped again loudly and then collapsed, spent against his chest. "I think its time to take it inside." He told her.
"I dont think I can walk." She said as tears filled her eyes. "Deacon the things you do to me."
"I hope its more than just sex Brooke."
"Oh Deacon, you know it is. Oh God you know it is." She grabbed his face with her hands and kissed him. "I have never felt so loved, so wanted, so protected in my entire life. Youve given me something that Ive searched my entire life for and if it takes the rest of my life I promise I will repay you."
"Repay me? Baby youre my wife, thats all I wanted, its all I ever wanted." His mouth covered hers again in a kiss of deep love and devotion. Brooke was sobbing when she finally broke away.
"Finally, finally I have what always eluded me. Deacon Sharpe I thank God for bringing you to me."
Amber changed the channel, unable to sleep and unable to find anything that held her interest. She looked at the man sleeping in the bed next to her. She loved her husband, he was good and kind but there was always something missing, something that she had tasted once, well almost tasted. She thought to herself. She rubbed her thigh were the tattoo had once been. Rick had hated it and she couldnt blame him but she missed it. It was a reminder of a time in her life when she had reached for the brass ring and had had it in her grasp only to let go. "Deacon." She whispered. "I know youre back. Why havent you come to see me yet?"
Carlos stepped out of his office and called out to the man walking away down the hall. "Thorne, Thorne may I see you a moment?"
Thorne Forrester stopped, turned and headed back to him. "Hi Carlos." He said with a smile as he approached him. "What can I do for you?"
"Id like to meet with you today, perhaps we could have lunch?" He suggested.
"I think I can manage that." He said agreeably. "So Carlos, how are you liking it back here in LA?"
"Im liking it very much. Most of the people here have made me feel very welcome. I am enjoying the challenges of the job and I do like California."
"Most of the people huh?" Thorne laughed. "Dont let my brother get to you Carlos, hes always been this way. He fancies himself as in control of just about everything. I hope that no one else has been giving you a hard time."
"Your mother is not happy with Brookes appointment but she has been polite. Your father as always is quite the gentleman. I am very impressed with Rick, he has a good head for business. One day I can see him doing good things for this company."
"Ive always thought that too. But his wife is a little too ambitious for my tastes."
"I only met her two times, and I wasnt overly impressed either." Carlos chuckled. "But it is good to see you again Thorne, its been too long."
"That it has." Thorne agreed. "Hey if youre planning on staying in town maybe we can do something together being that I am a single man again."
"I was so sorry to hear about Macy." Carlos said sadly.
"It was hard. It was a terrible tragedy. If I could go back and do things differently." Thorne said with a sigh.
"You would have not been with Brooke?" Carlos wondered.
"Brooke." Thorne said thoughtfully. "Brooke was a mistake, a wonderful, beautiful mistake but then I was a mistake for her too. We were both looking for something Carlos, we thought we had found it in each other, maybe we did, but there were too many ghosts in our bed. It was doomed from the start. But I dont regret loving her, I just think we never should have taken it as far as marriage."
"Brooke is an amazing woman." Carlos said.
"Have you fallen under her spell too Carlos?" Thorne asked.
"I might have but no, we are in a business relationship and we are friends Thorne, I consider her a dear friend."
"Just dont hurt her Carlos, shes had too much pain in her life lately."
"Spoken like a true gentleman Thorne. No wonder I have so much respect for you."
"Well thank you Carlos, I feel the same." Thorne told him.
"Shall we say noon?" Carlos asked.
"Sure, any place in particular?" Thorne asked.
"This is your town, why dont you choose."
"Great, Ill have Megan make reservations." Thorne told him. "Ill meet you here a little before."
"Good, and thanks Thorne, this will be very helpful to me." Carlos said. He shook his hand and went back into his office closing the door. Thorne turned in the opposite direction, towards Megans desk.
"Hi." He said with a smile.
"Hi Thorne, what can I do for you?" She asked him.
"Can you make reservations for two for lunch at noon?"
"Café Russe?" She asked.
"No, its not a date. Any ideas?" He asked her.
"Mannequins? Las Olas?" She suggested.
"Hmm, its for me and Carlos, I wonder if hed like Las Olas or maybe be tired of the whole Spanish thing." Thorne said.
"The food is really good there Thorne and Carlos is Cuban, not Mexican." She reminded him.
"Yeah, true, then Las Olas it is." He smiled. "Thanks Megan."
"Youre welcome Thorne."
He started to walk away and then turned. "Hey Megan?"
"Yeah?"
"Have you heard from Brooke lately?" He asked.
"Your brother asked me the same thing earlier." She reported. "But no, I havent spoken to her in at least two weeks. But if I do Ill tell her you asked."
"Okay, I just hope things are okay with her and that shes coming home soon."
"Me too Thorne, me too."
Ridge got up from his desk and walked to the door making sure it was locked. Once he was satisfied he sat down and opened his briefcase. He pulled out the crumbled wad of paper and smoothed it out. Taylor was right, this was good. He felt some momentary embarrassment at his behavior the night before but immediately justified it to himself by picturing Carlos Caicedos smug face. "Asshole." He muttered. "Youll never know that you got to me." He pulled out a clean sheet and started to duplicate the design. It irked him to do anything that could prove Caicedo right but he also had his own image to protect and this design deserved to be a part of the collection. He put down his pencil and took a sip of his coffee and then looked at the clock. "Maybe I should try her again." He said to himself. He reached for the phone and punched in a number and listened to the ring on the other end. "Come on, come on pick up." He said impatiently. "Oh hi, Bridget its Ridge, how are you?"
"Im okay Ridge. Is something wrong? Did you hear from Mom?" She asked him.
"Actually thats what I was calling you about. I wondered if you had heard from her. Im anxious to speak to her."
"I havent heard from her in over two weeks. Shes doing some island hopping. Is something the matter?" She asked him.
"No, I just have a couple of issues I wanted to run by her." The disappointment was obvious in his voice.
"Maybe you can ask Carlos, I know Mom calls him." Bridget suggested.
"Uh, no." Ridge said. "I have no desire to speak to him about anything. Just do me a favor, if your mother calls you ask her to please give me a call. Tell her its really important."
"Sure Ridge." She said. "I hope everything is okay."
"Nothing for you to worry about Bridget." Suddenly he remembered his run in the day before. "Bridget I have some news, something that may upset you. Im not really sure how to tell you this."
"What is it? Is it Dad?" She gasped.
"No, everyone is fine, but we had a visitor yesterday. Deacon." He said.
"Oh him." Bridget said with a sigh of relief. "I saw him too Ridge. What did he want at Forrester?"
"Probably blackmail." He told her. "I dont know Budge but I didnt want you to be shocked that hes back. I dont know for how long anyway. Where did you see him? Did he come to your house? I swear Ill kill that bastard if he hurts you again."
"Im fine Ridge, I just ran into him. He isnt here to hurt me, and he couldnt anyway. Im happy, I really am Ridge, I love Vincent."
"Dont you go jumping into another relationship so quickly honey, youre so young and you have so much life ahead of you."
"You sound just like Dad." Bridget laughed. "But Ridge, Im really happy. I want you and Taylor to meet Vincent. I know youll love him too."
"Id like that a lot Budge." He said as a smile crept onto his face. Bridget had a knack of doing that to him, he was glad she was still a part of his life and that she considered him someone important to her too. "Why dont you give Taylor a call and we can all go out?" He suggested.
"I will." She said cheerfully. "And I promise if Mom calls Ill give her your message, but I have to get to class so Ill talk to you later."
"Okay Budge, bye." He said.
"Good morning beautiful." Deacon whispered into Brookes ear. He kissed her neck and his hand reached to caress her bare breast. "Wake up and give your husband a kiss."
"Husband! Deacon? Oh God Deacon what have we done?" Brooke gasped as she sat up in the bed.
"Brooke?" He asked with concern.
"Are we crazy? Deacon we must be crazy? How could I have been so selfish? How could I have done this? I married you! I married you without giving my daughter a single thought!" She pulled the sheet up and held it across her breasts. "Deacon we have to do something about this. We cant be married, we cant!"
"Stop that right now." He said. He gently pulled her into his arms. "Brooke I love you and you love me. We got married because we love each other, it was the right thing to do, you know it was."
"No, no it isnt." She said as tears filled her eyes. "Shell never forgive me. Deacon we have to get this marriage annulled. I cant be your wife. I cant do this to her."
"And what about what youll be doing to me? And to yourself Brooke?" He asked her. "Brooke we were both so lonely and so unhappy."
"And I should have stayed that way. Deacon why did I let you talk me into this?"
"I didnt have to do that much talking Brooke."
She looked at him and frowned.
"You know its true Brooke. Or are you telling me that you really dont love me?"
"You know I love you. Oh Deacon if there was a way, but there isnt. We cant be married. No one will accept it. Well be chased out of town. My children will hate me, the Forresters will hate me. Ill be bringing shame on everyone that I love."
"Thanks a lot Brooke." He said, letting go of her.
She turned and looked at his sad face and gently touched his cheek. "Im sorry. I didnt mean it the way it sounded. I dont mean that you would bring shame on anyone, I meant if were married. Deacon you were my daughters husband."
"And now Im yours." He told her. "And we cant get it annulled, not after our wedding night, wed have no grounds for that and dont even suggest divorce."
"But Deacon."
"But nothing Brooke." He said angrily. "I am not suggesting that this will be easy on Bridget but eventually she will understand. She has a new guy in her life."
"Oh and that makes it okay for me to marry her husband?" Brooke asked him. She wiped the tears from her eyes. "Deacon we werent thinking last night. We were all caught up in the moment, in the romance, in the allure of the islands but its morning now and the sun is up and I see things clearly. We cant stay married. We never had the right to get married."
He grabbed her hands and held them tightly. "Do you love me?"
"Thats irrelevant."
"Bullshit!"
"Deacon it is, it has to be." She pleaded.
"This is my ring on your finger and if I am not mistaken this is your ring on mine. A ring you went and bought for me all on your own. I didnt force you to do anything Brooke!" He shouted.
"I know you didnt, but Deacon I wasnt thinking straight. I was just so happy to see you, to touch you, to love you."
"And thats changed now?" He asked.
"No." She admitted softly.
"Then well find a way to work it out. I am not giving you up, never again Brooke, never." He pulled her back into his arms and when he kissed her Brooke found herself giving in once more to her love and passion.
Stephanie was looking at the schedule for the upcoming showing where her private line rang. She picked it up and closed the folder.
"Yes." She said.
"Im making headway."
"Im not interested in headway, I want to know where she is and who shes with and what they are doing." She told him in a no nonsense tone.
"She was in St. Lucia." He told her.
"I dont care where she WAS, I want to know where she IS. If you cant handle this Ill find someone who can."
"She was alone in St. Lucia." He continued. "I know shes left but so far I havent found her, but I will."
"I want an answer today. And I know Brooke Logan, she cant do a single thing on her own. Someone is with her and I want to know who."
"Ill find her Mrs. Forrester." He assured her.
"Youd better." She told him. She looked at the phone like it was a disgusting insect and put it down in the cradle. "Youre up to no good Brooke and Im going to find out just what it is."
Deacon came out of the shower and found Brooke sitting at the vanity staring into space. He walked behind her and kissed the back of her neck. She turned to him, smiled and kissed him on the lips.
"Im sorry about before." She told him.
"So you agree with me?" He asked her.
"I dont know." She said, shaking her head. "I love you, I know that, but how can I justify putting myself ahead of my children?"
"How is being married to me doing that?" He asked.
"She loves you Deacon." She answered sadly.
"No Brooke, she doesnt and even if she did would that make it right? Would that make it right to give up what we both feel?" He put his hands on her shoulders and gently massaged her.
"I know its so wrong but I cant give you up Deacon, I cant." She turned her head and kissed him again. "But we have to come up with a plan."
"What kind of plan Brooke? In case youve forgotten we already are married."
"Yes, but no one else can know that."
"What? You expect me to go home and pretend youre not my wife? Brooke I cant do that! I wont do that!"
"You can and you will. Until we figure out how Bridget is feeling and how we can tell her we have to go home and go our separate ways."
Deacon looked at her and started to laugh. "Separate ways? Youre too funny Brooke."
"Im not trying to be funny Deacon, Im serious. We cant let anyone know were married. We have to keep it a secret."
"Then we have to reach a compromise baby. Maybe I can go along with keeping our marriage a secret but I am not going to be without you. That is not an option."
"What can we do? We cant move in together, everyone would know. We can find a way to sneak and see each other but we cant let them know."
"Brooke." He said as he took both her hands in his. "Listen to me. Bridget will understand. And so will Rick. As for the rest of them, baby I dont give a shit. I want you, my wife in my arms, in my bed every night."
"And how do I explain leaving my home to move into your apartment Deacon?" She asked.
"I certainly dont expect you to live there. We need to get our own place."
"So I come home from a vacation and just move?"
"Why not Brooke? You wanted to make changes. Why would you want to stay in a house that Ridge Forrester bought for you? A house where you had not one but three bad marriages! We deserve our own place, our own start. So we go home, find a place and move in. In the mean time we can stay at your place or a hotel, anywhere as long as were together."
"Youre asking me to make too many changes too fast Deacon. But even if I did that I still cant just let the world know were married."
"So what are you suggesting?" He asked. "Im not going to be unreasonable Brooke but we have to come to some kind of an agreement."
"Can we just forget about it now Deacon? Cant we just enjoy what we have now?" She begged.
"What we are having now is a honeymoon, a vacation, its fun, its romantic but its not reality. I want to enjoy it too baby, I want to come away with a lifetime of memories, but I want to come away with a wife. Youre asking me to come home alone and I cant do that, I cant do it Brooke! I cant and I wont!"
"Neither can I." She whispered.
"Good, now youre talking. So what do we do Brooke? Are you that ashamed of me that you want to hide what weve done? Damn it I am so proud of you. So proud youre mine. I want to shout it from the rooftops! I was hoping you did too."
"I do Deacon." She said softly. "And I will. After we make Bridget understand."
"And before? Baby I am not going away. Im your husband now."
Brooke looked at him and smiled. "You better not be going anywhere." He pulled her to him and kissed her.
"Its going to all work out Brooke, as long as we are the ones to explain it to Bridget in a quiet, dignified way it will all work out."
"What now?" Stephanie muttered when her private line lit up again. "Hello!" She said sharply.
"Stephanie?" Amber asked.
"Oh, its you Amber. Hello. What is it?"
"Are you busy?" Amber asked her.
"Of course Im busy. That tramp mother-in-law of yours took off without a moments notice, left a buffoon in charge and doesnt have the decency to contact any of us, so yes you can say my hands are full."
"Im sorry." Amber said meekly.
"Just get to your point Amber."
"Can I come by? Id really like to talk to you about something."
"Im sorry but today just isnt good for me Amber."
"Okay." She said.
Stephanie could sense the sadness and regret in the younger womans voice and she mellowed. "Amber why dont we meet for lunch?"
"Great!" She happily replied.
"Las Olas at noon." Stephanie told her. "Im dying for something spicy, that is if you can eat that now."
"Oh yeah, the baby seems to like it too." Amber said with a giggle. "Ill see you then."
Stephanie hung up the phone and opened her folder again. "This better be good Amber."
"Mother, hes back." Ridge announced as he stormed into her office.
"Whos back and shut the door." She demanded.
"Deacon Sharpe." He said as he shut the door and returned to her desk.
"Deacon is back? What does he want? Dont tell me hes upsetting poor Bridget."
"I spoke to her this morning." Ridge explained. "She claims she ran into him but that shes okay with it. Damn it Mother, Brooke should be here for her. Theres no telling when hes going to be at her door again. I dont think shes as okay with it all as she claims."
"This isnt just about Bridget and Deacon though is it dear?" Stephanie asked her favorite son.
"No, its Caicedo. I want him gone Mother. I never would have believed that Brooke could do this to us. She knows that Dad and I should have been left in charge."
"I wholeheartedly agree." Stephanie told him. "I just wish your father did."
"Dad is just too agreeable." Ridge complained. "I do understand that he hired him and that he trusted him but this isnt working out. And now Im resenting Logan and I dont like that either."
"Resenting that slut is probably the smartest thing youve ever done."
"Stop it Mother, Brooke is my friend. I just want her back and things to be back to normal."
"I dont know Ridge." She said with a sense of forewarning. "Somehow I have the feeling that nothing is going to ever be normal again."
Bridget was struggling to hold onto her books when she felt someone take them out of her hands. "Hey!" She shouted out.
"I thought you could use some help." The young man said. He had light brown hair and bright blue eyes and a wide grin. He was wearing worn blue jeans with a gray tee shirt with USA written in red and blue lettering. He carefully handed them back to her.
"Im sorry, I thought you were trying to take them." She smiled. "Do I know you?" She asked him.
"Andrew Turner, Im in your English Lit class." He explained.
"Oh yes." She grinned. "I do remember you. Im sorry if I was rude."
"Not at all. Like I said, I was just trying to help. Whens your next class?"
"Not for an hour. I was going to go to the library to study." She told him.
"How about coffee instead?" He suggested.
"Are you buying?"
"Thats why I asked." He grinned again.
"Okay Andrew, Id like to have coffee with you." She told him.
"Call me Andy." He said as he took the books from her hands again. This time she let him.
"Okay Andy." She weaved her arm through his and they headed towards the coffee shop.
Betsy and Jimmy walked hand and hand into the campus coffee shop. They went right to the counter where Jimmy turned to talk to a friend of his from the football team. Betsy smiled at the man behind the counter and waved. "Hi Stu." She said. "Can we have a couple of lattes?"
"You got it." He told her. He walked away and got the drinks and quickly returned with them. "So when did Bridget break up with Mr. Perfect? I was kind of hoping Id have a chance when that happened."
"What are you talking about Stu?" Betsy asked. "She and Vincent are practically living together."
"Then someone better tell them." He said as he motioned to a dark table in the corner. To Betsys shock Bridget Forrester was with a man, a man she had never met. They were talking and laughing and Bridget was touching him with a sense of familiarity that somehow upset Betsy. When he leaned over and kissed her best friend Betsy almost jumped out of her shoes.
"Oh my God!" She gasped. "Who is he?"
"Ive seen him around but I dont know his name. I wonder if Bridget does."
"She and Vincent must have broken up." Becky said shaking her head. "I wonder why she didnt tell me."
"Maybe the apple doesnt fall far from the tree." Stu laughed.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Betsy said indignantly.
"Hey, Ive heard all about her mother." He laughed. "Maybe she gave Bridget slut lessons."
"Bridget is not a slut!" Betsy was appalled by his comments. She had always considered Stu a friend and a nice guy but no one talked that way about her best friend.
"Maybe not, but you never can tell." He laughed and moved on to the next customer.
"Im going to get a beer, you want something?" Deacon asked Brooke. She looked up at him and smiled. They had decided to stop thinking about their return, at least for the rest of the day and had gone out to the pool. "Hmmm?" He asked.
"What time is it?" She asked him with a squint. "It cant even be noon yet."
"Are you my mother?" He said sarcastically.
"I wasnt criticizing you. I just wondered if it was too early for me." She answered defensively.
"Sorry, I just hate when people make judgements about me. So do you want anything?"
She thought about asking for a soft drink but knew hed take offense. "Ill have a Pina Colada." She said.
"Virgin?" He teased.
"Moi?" She giggled. "No, I want a real one." He leaned over and kissed her.
"I love you Brooke."
"I love you too." She smiled.
He walked away from her and she let out a sigh. She wondered how she could be so happy and yet so scared. Why did her life always have to be so complicated? If only she could talk to Bridget, make her understand. But what if she never forgave her? How could Brooke choose between her husband and her daughter? "No! I wont think about this today. Today Deacon and I will be happy." She said aloud. Deacon, how had it become so intense, so important so fast. When she thought about him she realized she barely knew her husband. Yes, she knew every inch of his body, she knew what is hands and lips could do to her. She knew that she never felt more loved than in his arms but she really knew nothing at all about him. She had gone and done exactly what her daughter had done. She had married a virtual stranger.
"Hey." Deacon said to the dark skinned bartender. "Let me have a Corona and a Pina Colada. And do you have a phone?"
"Over there." The man pointed.
"Thanks, Ill be right back." He walked across the bar to the phone booth. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a handful of change and put it on the counter. He punched in a number, listened to the amount of money needed and fed in the coins. "Come on, come on." He said. He listened for the answer. "Hey darlin its me." He announced as the phone was answered.
Brooke stood up and stretched. She looked towards the bar wondering what was keeping Deacon so long. She walked to the edge of the pool and dipped her perfectly manicured toe into the water. It was warm and inviting. "Why not?" She said to herself. She adjusted the top of her brightly colored, floral bikini and dove into the turquoise water. It felt so good. Her body was tired from the workout of the night before and the water was comforting and relaxing. She swam two long laps and then walked up the steps and back to her lounge. "Come on Deacon." She said. "I think Im ready for another round." She giggled.
"You can take me to my table now, Amber Forrester will be joining me." Stephanie told the hostess at Las Olas.
"Yes Mrs. Forrester." The pleasant young woman answered with a smile. "Please follow me." She led her to a table in a prime spot. Stephanie looked around, assuring herself that it was the best table and then sat. "Juanita will be your waitress, shell be with you shortly. Can I get you something from the bar while you wait?"
"Good heavens no. Its barely noon." Stephanie told her.
"Perhaps an Iced Tea or some fruit punch?" She asked her.
"Just water, bottled please." Stephanie said. "And a menu." She said dismissing her with her hand.
The hostess turned, rolled her eyes and walked away. She saw the young brunette waitress and stopped her. "The woman at ten is a real bitch. Her name is Stephanie Forrester. Be careful of her."
"I will." Juanita said.
The hostess went back to the front of the restaurant when Amber came in. "Hi, Im meeting someone." She told her. "Oh, there she is." She said pointing to Stephanie.
"Good luck honey." The hostess told her as Amber walked past her.
"Hi Stephanie." Amber said as she hugged the older woman.
"Amber."
"Sorry Im late."
"Youre not." Stephanie said. "Sit Amber, youre making me nervous with your twitching."
Amber smiled and sat down. She nervously picked up a menu. "I love the food here." She announced.
"Im a busy woman Amber. What is it that you needed to speak to me about?"
"Whats the matter Stephanie? It thought we were friends." Amber said.
"Amber I dont have time for your little insecurities, obviously you had something important to tell me. I heard you were looking for me yesterday. So please just get to the point."
"I did come to see you. But now Im not so sure."
"Fine. Then I think Ill just leave." She said standing up.
"Wait!" Amber pleaded. "Sit please, I do want to talk to you. Its about Brooke." Amber said, immediately getting the older womans attention.
"Good morning Ms. Logan." The attractive, well-dressed woman said to Brooke. "How has your stay been so far?"
"Its been wonderful." Brooke said as she shielded her eyes from the sun.
"Ive reconfirmed your airline reservation for tomorrow, everything is set." She told Brooke.
"My reservation?" Brooke asked. "Oh dear. Id forgotten about that. I need to make some changes Ms. Lopez. I have a, a companion now." She said nervously.
"That is not a problem. Would you like to stay on, or perhaps change to another flight?" She asked her taking a seat next to Brooke.
"We really like it here but I did want to see St. John." Brooke told her. "Can you get a second ticket for me and contact Caneel Bay and let them know the reservation will be for two?"
"Of course Ms. Logan, it would be my pleasure."
"Great. Ill hate leaving here though. Everything has been so perfect."
"Then I hope we will have you back again soon. Ill go to my office and arrange the changes for you. Can you please give me your companions name for the ticket?"
"Please Ms. Lopez, its important that this is entirely confidential." Brooke stressed.
"Yes Ms. Logan, it will be kept in complete confidentiality."
"His name is Deacon, Deacon Sharpe." Brooke told her with a smile.
As Ms. Lopez walked away Brooke saw Deacon approaching with the drinks. She smiled at him and waved. He quickened his pace and was soon next to her. "Who was that?" He asked.
"Ms. Lopez from the concierge office. She was confirming my flight."
"Your flight? Are you leaving me already wife?" He laughed as he handed her the frosty drink.
"Ive been moving around a lot since I left. I have reservations for St. John tomorrow."
"Um Brooke, youre a married woman now. You cant just up and leave me."
"Shes getting you a ticket too silly." She smiled.
"Why do you want to leave?" He asked her. "This place is awesome. Im just getting used to it."
"I dont want them to find me and start bothering me." She explained.
"They meaning the Forresters? Why would they try and find you?" He asked.
"Because its not like me to do this and now its even more important that I keep one step ahead of them." She sipped her drink. "St. John is really nice Deacon."
"Damn it Brooke it sure looks to me like youre doing all this hiding because of me!"
"No, no Deacon, no. I had already made this reservation. We can stay if its that important to you."
He saw the look of sincerity on her face and became calm. "Nah, it makes sense to leave." He agreed. "But I do like it here."
"We can always come back Deacon. Once everything is out in the open we can do whatever we want." She reached for his hand and took it in her own. "Thank you for being so understanding."
"So you think she paid him to leave but somehow shes more involved than even that? I dont seem to understand Amber. Brooke hates him and she hates what hes done to her daughter. Are you suggesting that theres more to it than that?" Stephanie asked.
"At first I thought it was all about blackmail and maybe it is. I know that Deacon seemed more interested in seeing Brooke than in seeing Bridget."
"Money, that man is all about money. Now if that fool has been paying him and shes run out on him God knows what kind of damage shes caused. That may be why she really left. Hes scared her and shes running." Stephanie looked at Amber and a huge smile crossed her face. "Maybe hes scared her away for good."
"I doubt we could be that lucky." Amber laughed.
"Shes a fool Amber, a fool to connect herself to scum like that man. Her daughter was taken in but there is no excuse for a woman of her experience to get fooled by him. So now it will be up to us to get rid of him for good. Any maybe if were lucky she wont return. Then all we have to do is get rid of Carlos and." Her words caught in her throat as she saw the man himself walk into the restaurant with her son Thorne.
"Stephanie?" Amber asked.
"Thorne? Why is he with that man?" She watched as the hostess led them to a table on the other side of the room. Thorne was smiling and laughing as was Carlos. "Oh no, not you Thorne, you cant have fallen into this trap too."
Brooke touched her swollen lips and opened her mouth slightly as her husbands mouth took her own once more. She ran her hands through his hair as his slid between her legs. She spread them wide and pushed herself closer to him. Deacon laughed and pushed her legs up his head disappeared between them causing Brooke to moan loudly. "Deacon, oh Deacon." She called out. His tongue was lapping at her, dipping into her, teasing her by slipping around her most sensitive area. She arched her back trying to force his mouth to the place that she so yearned for his touch. When he finally relented and licked her nub she screamed and moaned he then gently nipped at her with his teeth. "Oh God." She moaned as she felt the beginning of an orgasm take her. He slipped his hand around her to her buttock and pushed her closer. She squirmed as the pleasure became too much for her to bear but he was unrelenting. "Oohhhhhhhhh." She moaned loudly. "Yes, yes, yes oh God yes." She screamed. She felt like she was on the verge of unconsciousness when he finally moved his head away. She looked at him with glassy eyes as he gave her body a tug, pulling her down to him. His hardened member easily slid inside her, filling her and bringing her another form of pleasure. She wrapped her legs tightly around his waist as his mouth took hers again. His tongue tasted of whiskey, beer and of herself and Brooke felt more turned on than she ever had before. "Hold on baby." He told her and with a swift turn he flung them around and she was riding him. Brooke sat and felt him fill her even more deeply. His hands grabbed her breasts and he caressed and teased each full globe. "Deacon." She moaned again. He pulled her down to his body and his tongue once more entered her mouth. "Im coming baby." He said as he held her tightly to him and his seed spilled deep inside her.
Exhausted and spent Brooke curled up next to him. He pulled her close and kissed her. "It gets better every time, every f*cking time." He laughed.
"And to think we came in here to pack." She smiled and kissed his neck.
"We couldnt waste our honeymoon on such mundane things." He slid his hand down her body, stopping at her belly button. He dipped his finger into it and tickled her. "I need more." He said, letting his hand travel back down to her tight wetness. He immediately found her nub and stroked it till she whimpered. "Youre so responsive to my touch." He moaned.
"I love your touch, I never want you to stop touching me, never." She whispered as she spread her legs for him.
"Is there something you want Mrs. Sharpe?" He teased.
"This." She said as her hand circled his pen*s. She squirmed away from him and inched down the bed. A look of shock and desire came to his face as she leaned over and took him into her mouth.
"Brooke, shit Brooke." He moaned as she used her hands and tongue and mouth to pleasure him. "Shit, the face of an angel and the sexuality of a whore, how did I ever get so lucky?"
"Just shut up and enjoy." She told him. And he did.
"Who is he?" Amber asked Stephanie as she watched her watching Carlos.
"Thats your husbands champion Amber." Stephanie told her.
"Thats Carlos? Wow, I thought he was some old guy. Hes hot."
"Hot." Stephanie said sarcastically. "Hes a fool and a user and he will do permanent damage to this company if we dont get rid of him and I cant believe my son is here with him."
"Maybe Thorne is trying to smooth things over." Amber suggested.
"I thought he had more sense. I thought he had regained his mind when he left that tramp."
"Maybe hes trying to help Stephanie." Amber said again. "Uh oh." She said when Thorne stood up as a beautiful brunette woman came over to join them. "Looks like they have company."
"Thats the slut that works as a model at Spectra." Stephanie told Amber. "What in Gods name are they doing with her?" She watched them as Thorne stood to pull out her chair but to Stephanies shock instead he pulled her into his arms and kissed her deeply.
Deacon smiled and gently touched his sleeping wifes hair. He leaned over and kissed her cheek and silently left the bedroom. He went to the refrigerator, took out a bottle of beer and opened it. He took a gulp and went into the living area of the suite. Sitting down on the couch he picked up the phone and punched in a number. "Hey baby, sorry I had to cut it off so quickly before. Im glad youre still home. Weve gotta talk. Yeah, yeah. I know. I was a bad boy." He laughed. "But things are looking up for Old Deac now. Oh yeah, you better believe it." He listened to the other side of the conversation. "She did huh? Dont worry, Ive moved on to greener pastures now. Oh yeah. Deac has struck gold baby, gold. Uh huh." He laughed and looked towards the bedroom. "I have to go, I dont want to wake her up. I love you sweetheart. Ill see you soon." He said. He hung up the phone with a smile, took a gulp of his beer and put his feet up on the coffee table. "Life is good." He told himself. "Life is good."
CHAPTER TWELVE
|
