The next morning I got up and checked on our daughter. Sierra needed her diaper changed which i did and then gave her a bath. I had just dressed her in her denim overalls and yellow T-shirt from Stephanie. I lifted her up and went back into the bedroom to see how Deacon was feeling. He was just waking up himself. He said" Good morning to my two favorite women. " I said" Good morning ." I asked" how are you feeling?'" He said" Still wiped out and sniffly." I asked "Did you call the office?" He said" No i am just about to do that." I said" Well i'll get you some juice unless you want to come downstairs." He said" I'll be down in a minute." I kissed his cheek and took the baby downstairs. I placed her in her playpen in the corner of the living room and she played with her rattles for a while.
Then i got some oranges and squeezed them for juice for him. He came downstairs dressed casually in some sweats and a T-shirt. I said" Did you call In?" He nodded. He said" Whip wasn't happy but he will adjust." " I faxed him the stuff from my trip to Carmel." Brooke nodded. Then he stifled a cough. He said" I think i am going to go out by the pool for a while." "The sun always helps me feel better when i'm sick." I said" All right i'll bring you some breakfast out in a bit." He smiled.
I headed into the kitchen to mix Sierra's cereal and fruit . Then i scrambled him some eggs with bacon and carried a plate outside to him. He ate half of it and said" Baby sorry i'm just not hungry right now." I said" It's ok." He said" I would like to feed the baby can you bring her out?" I nodded and carried her to her daddy.
She squealed contentedly as he fed her breakfast. She was fast becoming a daddy's girl and it warmed my heart. He said" She gets more beautiful every day." He said" I am so glad i have her in my life." "And her mother." I smiled. He said" Hey you need some breakfast, i can watch her while you grab your bagel." I nodded and went into the kitchen to toast my usual bagel with jelly. I had dressed in jeans and a silk shirt that he liked on me. I came back out just as he was holding the baby and laying down on a lounge chair. She was resting on his stomach. He turned his head to cough which startled her. He said" Sorry princess daddy isn't feeling so hot today." "But you make daddy smile." I took her out of his hands and said" You promised to rest." I handed him some juice and he closed his eyes and relaxed on the lounge chair.
Poor baby i thought he looks pale and sleepy eyed. I left him outside as i took the baby into play with for a while. There was a knock at the door. I answered and found my daughter Bridget. She had had some rough moments with us beforee but she had begun to come around. She said" Hi mom." She smiled at Sierra in my arms and reached out to hold her sister. She said" Wow she's getting bigger every time i see her." I remarked" She has your eyes." Bridget nodded. Then she said" So i heard Deacon was away and thought i would come over and visit." I said " Actually he got in last night." "He's out back and not feeling well so please be civil to him."
Bridget said" What's wrong?" I replied" He has a cold ." She said" In the summer they seem worse." I nodded and said" Well this baby needs a nap so excuse me a minute." She said" I'll go say hello to him then until you get back down here." I heard her go out to our deck.
She said" Hello Deacon." He said" Bridget." She said" Mom said you aren't feeling well." He said" Caught a cold in Carmel no big deal." She said" Well i just dropped by to see Sierra for a while and Mom." He nodded. Then he said" Thanks for the concern." She nodded and walked away from him. He got up and headed inside the house. He said" Brooke i'll be upstairs i have some papers to fax to Ridge." She nodded and they hugged. Then Bridget said" Well i have some things to do before i have work at The Insomnia later." "Bye Mom." She hugged me and left.
I headed upstairs and found Deacon fi nishing his fax. I said" Hey why don't you get a nap in you look tired." He said" I could lay down." I said" When you wake up i'll make you some potato cheese soup for lunch." He smiled and said" A guy could get used to this pampering stuff now and then." I swatted him on the butt playfully and went to see what Sierra was doing in her crib. I heard her giggles as i walked into the room. I said" So princess you're awake." She smiled. I said" And someone needs her diaper changed." She was a little wet so i got her changed in no time. She yawned and i laughed in spite of myself. She had her daddy's yawn now.
I took her into the bedroom just as Deacon had pulled off his shirt. He said" Hey my princess is awake." I said" Yes she is and she and mommy are going to go to the mall for a while so daddy can get some rest." He sniffed and said" I just hope she doesnt get this from me." I said" She won't honey." Then we left the house and headed over to the mall on Rodeo Drive.
